Summer Bucket List Inspiration

Summer Bucket List Inspiration

There is something about summer that brings out the life in us, am I right?
With relaxed schedules, longer days and no pressure of homework,
summer is the perfect time to put together your favourite summer bucket
list ideas!

Some of the ideas can be done solo, while others are a fun way to get your
family and friends inspired to live a healthier lifestyle this summer too!

Summer Bucket List Activities:

#1: Attend an Outdoor Concert

Find the perfect venue in your area, bring a lawn chair and spend a bucket list evening listening to tunes!  I've been listening to a lot of Brandi Carlile this summer - love her latest album 'In These Silent Days'

#2: Have a Picnic

Pack a traditional wicker basket with your favourite picnic foods and enjoy it under the summer stars with good friends!  If you're in the western Ontario area, check out 'Dybosia' for prepared picnics and charcuterie & graze boards.

#3: Take a Road Trip

Have you ever wanted to just pick a spot on the map, get in your car and drive? Don’t forget to make a list of all the things you want to do and see along the way!  Check out this list of 'Best Road Trips in Canada' for inspiration!

#4: Be a Tourist in Your Own City

Do you know your city in and out? Take the time to visit more than just your regular hangout places. Go someplace new. You might be surprised by just how wonderful your town can be!  If you are local to us, check out the 'Midland Walking Tours' - a great way to spend the afternoon feeling like a tourist, learning new local info and maybe discovering a new food place!

#5: Visit a (New) Farmers Market

Take a stroll through different farmer's markets, not only in your hometown but also wherever your summer travels take you.  This is such a great summer activity - explore this list of the Best Farmer's Markets in Ontario.

#6: Hit the Beach for Some Fun (& Fitness!)

In addition to working out within a terrain you might not normally encounter, the beach is a great opportunity to take a dip and swim some laps!  There are amazing beaches in every province.  Explore some ideas here

#7: Go 24 Hours Without Internet, Radio or TV

When was the last time you went two hours without your phone? Go camping, sit and read a good book, talk with your friends and family, or use the time to complete some of the ideas on this summer bucket list.  As a reminder of the benefits of unplugging, check out this great article from OPTIMUM on 'The Benefits of Unplugging'.

#8: Host the Ultimate BBQ

Get ready for a perfect summer night! Good food, good company, cold bevies and warm outdoor weather... what more could you ask for? Cook up a new BBQ idea and switch things up a bit - here's some inspiration for grilling ideas

#9: Sleep Under the Stars

On one of those warm summer evenings, get a bunch of your friends and camp outdoors under the stars! Check out the brightest summer constellations - and maybe even catch the sunrise!

#10: Take a Hike

Hiking is an inexpensive, accessible form of exercise! Fit in a decent workout all while taking in the beauty of nature.  The Bruce Trail in Ontario is definitely a bucket list item! Big or small hikes on the Bruce will not disappoint.

#11: Watch an Outdoor Movie

Watch a movie outdoors and enjoy being under the stars while savouring some home-popped popcorn. If your town has an outdoor cinema, or if you can DIY an outdoor movie theatre, this is an incredibly fun thing to do during the summer. Bonus points for bringing along fresh summer snacks.  Here are some great tips from WIRECUTTER on how to pull this all together!

#12: Attend A Festival

Check out a fun festival or midway this summer! Toronto has so many unique and fun festival opportunities this summer - from wine festivals, to fruit and music and anything else in between. There's still time to fit this in - here's a great resource to see what's available in your local region.

#13: Enjoy A Cozy Campfire

Spend the summer with friends and family around a cozy campfire and don't forget to bring the s'mores!  Summer is not complete without bonfires with family and friends, and KOA has some tips on how to build the best one.

#14: Ride A Roller Coaster

Enjoy the classic thrill of summer with a rollercoaster! Maybe take this chance as a good opportunity to face your fear of heights. Ready to rock? Take a look at the top 10 theme parks in Canada here.

#15: Enjoy Some Ice Cream

Nothing better than a classic cold ice cream treat on a hot summer day. Whether you prefer a waffle cone, banana split, fancy sundae or scoop... treat yourself! Here's a DIY ice cream recipe to try out!
